Our group collaborates with other departments at the University of Oxford and Oxford Medical Diagnostics to develop sensitive breath analysers based on absorption spectroscopy. We have created a compact instrument for real-time measurement of CO2, O2, and water vapour in human breath appropriate for use in hospital settings. We are also exploring the development of similar instruments for detecting trace volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in human breath that serve as biomarkers for disease.
